Audio Nitnem (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a free app for listening to and reading the daily Sikh prayers (Nitnem) and Gurbani. We respect your privacy and have built the app to collect as little information as possible.
1. Information we do not collect
- No account, login, or registration — you can use the app anonymously.
- No name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
- No precise GPS location, photos, files, microphone, or camera access.
- No personal analytics profile — we do not run Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or similar tracking.
2. Information collected to show ads
The app is free and supported by banner ads served through Google AdMob. To show ads, AdMob and its ad partners may collect and process:
- Your device’s advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA) and similar device identifiers.
- General device information (such as device model, operating-system version, and language).
- An approximate, coarse location inferred from your IP address (not GPS).
- Information about ad interactions, for measurement and fraud prevention.
This information is used to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and abuse, and (where you allow it) show more relevant ads. Google’s handling of this data is described in Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
3. Ad consent (EU/UK and other regions)
Where required by law (for example in the EU, EEA and UK), the app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to show a consent message before personalised ads are used. Your choice is stored on your device and respected by the ad SDK. You can change your choice at any time from the app’s settings.
4. Purchases and subscriptions
Optional donations and the “Remove ads” subscription are processed entirely by Google Play Billing (on Android) or the Apple App Store (on iPhone/iPad). We never see or store your card or payment details — the app only receives confirmation that a purchase succeeded so it can unlock the corresponding feature. Payment data is handled under Google’s and Apple’s own privacy policies.
5. Content the app downloads
The app streams live kirtan, the Daily Hukamnama, and (for online stations) audio from our servers and third-party broadcasters. These are ordinary content requests; they are not used to build a profile of you. The bundled banis play directly from your device and do not require any network connection.
6. Children
Audio Nitnem is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app shows ads, families with young children may prefer to supervise its use.
7. Data sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal information. Data described above is shared only with the service providers that make the app work — primarily Google (AdMob, Play services) and, on iPhone/iPad, Apple. Each acts under its own privacy terms.
8. Your choices and rights
- Reset or limit ad tracking: on Android, go to Settings → Google → Ads to reset or delete your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation. On iPhone/iPad, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Change ad consent: use the consent option in the app’s settings (where applicable to your region).
- Delete data: because there is no account, uninstalling the app removes all app data from your device. To make requests about ad data held by Google, see Google’s privacy controls linked above.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California). To exercise any right, contact us at the address below.
9. Data retention & security
The app itself stores only small preferences (such as your chosen language and last-read page) on your device. All network communication that carries advertising or purchase information is encrypted in transit. Data processed by Google or Apple is retained according to their policies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
